RAT Pack

Battle of the Books is a longstanding national reading incentive program that has had strong support in Fayette County middle and elementary schools for several years.

Students from participating schools read 12 to 16 books included on a list of titles for the year. Maxwell's Battle of the Book team, named Rat (Read and Talk) Pack, is open to all 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade student who like to read and want to participate. It meets every other Tuesday after school to discuss the books as the students read them. Maxwell's team will compete in a series of contests with other FCPS teams in the spring.
