Brenda Cowan among National PTA’s Schools of Excellence

National PTA salutes Brenda Cowan Elementary as a 2022-24 School of Excellence for building strong partnerships with its families to enhance the educational experience and overall well-being of all students. Brenda Cowan was among four honorees in Kentucky and 368 total PTAs and schools from across the country and Department of Defense schools in Europe on the latest list, released in August.

“We are very proud of our PTA! They strive to create unique learning opportunities and enriched experiences for our students, staff, and families,” said Principal Josh Williams. “They’ve established great community partnerships that have helped us to eliminate barriers to learning and ensure all students have the opportunity to be successful.”

Enrollment in the School of Excellence program is open through Oct. 15 for the next year-long cycle. Through this commitment, PTAs and schools collect feedback from their communities to create and implement plans to improve family engagement and make a difference for every child. The PTAs and families become key partners in decision-making and school improvement efforts as the program opens the lines of communication and fosters critical thinking that yields positive, long-term results.
